چکیده

44 The execution of action sequences is the basis of most behavior. However, little is 45 known about the neural foundation of visuomotor sequence execution in birds, 46 although pigeons are a classic model animal to study sequence learning and 47 production. Recently, we identified two structures in the pigeon brain, the nidopallium 48 intermedium medialis pars laterale (NIML) and the nidopallium caudolaterale (NCL), 49 that are involved in the execution of a serial reaction time task (SRTT). In the SRTT 50 sequence execution is always cue guided. Thus, the previous study could not 51 unambiguously clarify if NCL and NIML contribute to a memory-based execution of 52 sequential behavior. In addition, a possibly differential role of these two structures 53 could not be identified. Therefore, the present study was conducted to further 54 elucidate the role of NCL and NIML for sequence execution in a task where pigeons 55 performed a memorized four item sequence. Transient inactivation of each NIML and 56 NCL severely impaired sequence execution. Results confirm and extend our previous 57 findings. NIML and NCL seem to store sequence information in parallel. However, 58 results support the hypothesis that NCL in contrast to NIML is especially required for 59 sequence initiation. 60 61

MTPHs, an Aesthetic Aspect of Local Architecture of Lenjanat

Among the variety and diversity of pigeon houses, Multi-Tier Pigeon Houses (MTPHs) are distinguished from the functional and aesthetic point of view and are considered as a specific local architectural sights of Lenjanat. However, few studies have been conducted to study this type of pigeon house and these constructs have remained unknown. In this study we have conducted library and field studi...

Molecular Detection of Novel Genetic Variants Associated to Anaplasma ovis among Dromedary Camels in Iran

To the best of our knowledge, little information is available regarding the presence of Anaplasma species in camels in Iran. This study sought to investigate the presence of Anaplasma species by microscopy and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays in 100 healthy dromedaries (Camelus dromedarius) arriving for slaughter. The microscopic examination of Giemsa-stained blood films revealed that Ana...

Molecular identification of non-Cryptococcus yeasts associated with pigeon droppings in Shiraz, Southern Iran

Background: Birds are considered as a reservoir for pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi. Pigeon droppings have the potential for spreading these fungi to the environment. Cryptococcus species are important fungi associated with pigeon droppings. In this regard, there are many types of yeast associated with guano that is important for human and animal health. Ai...
